When I was pregnant with Ellie, I started a blog to track my bumpdates. Of course, working fulltime and getting bigger and lazier, the blog slacked off after just a few weeks.. 😉
I do remember that I enjoyed it. I also remember that I sort of assumed that nobody was really reading my blog, and that I was basically just recording our memories for posterity’s sake. However, when I stopped, I got a surprising number of people (okay, like 5…) that inquired about the blog. Saying that they missed it and asking if I was going to get back to it.
So, 2 1/2 years later here I am pregnant again and this time I am REALLY hoping to keep up with these bumpdates. Because not only are they fun to look back on, but apparently some people actually enjoy following along with us as well 😉
Here we go!
How far along: about 20 weeks. Halfway there!
Size of baby: the length of a banana! At the appt with our midwife yesterday, we learned that baby is currently 11oz.
Must have items:
- Water bottles. I am trying to focus on keeping myself hydrated! Being pregnant during the summer months has not been as miserable as I thought it would be (the extra sunshine and warmth seems to be keeping my moods brighter than being pregnant during those dark winter months!) however, I do notice a huge difference in how I feel if I am not drinking enough water. So I pretty much always have some water with me.
- Lots of pillows! I bought a Snoogle while I was pregnant with Ellie but it actually didn’t end up being my favorite. It was a little firmer than I like and I found it a bit bulky. As a lifelong stomach sleeper, transitioning back to sleeping on my side has been made a bit easier just by using a ton of pillows each night for optimal positioning 😉 ha!
Sleep: Pretty well, for the most part. I have noticed a definite increase in the number of times I wake up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night though. So that’s fun.
Cravings: Salt and vinegar chips and salt and vinegar almonds! Oh my gosh, these are SO good. I can’t get enough.
Baby movement: YES! Just in the last couple of days I have felt baby move more and more.
Challenges this week: I’m going to get better at watching my weight. Up until this last dr appt, I hadn’t gained anything. Then this week? Ugh, let’s just say I may need to reign in the snacking just a touch 😉 I’ve really popped too, and feel like I am now sporting a noticeable bump. Overall, just starting to feel really large!
Best moment this week: Our anatomy ultrasound yesterday! Zach, Ellie and I all went, and getting to see our baby boy was just so special! It was an overall great appointment and it was special for Zach to be able to see his son for the first time and watch him move around. Definitely a favorite!!
….aaaaand that about sums up our week! Thanks for following along with us 🙂
